About the destination

Bolzano is the provincial capital of South Tyrol, a region in northern Italy where German is predominantly spoken. As the largest town near the Dolomites, Bolzano attracts a significant number of tourists. While smaller villages closer to the mountain peaks may impress with their traditional alpine charm, Bolzano's architectural and culinary diversity is unmatched. Its archaeology museum, which houses the alpine iceman "Ötzi", is renowned worldwide. Bolzano is also known as the Italian Capital of Christmas due to its characteristic Christmas market. Strategically located on several transit routes, Bolzano is situated in a stunning setting and enjoys a relatively mild climate given its proximity to the mountains. The world-famous Museum of Archaeology, which features the Iceman, and the main location of the Messner Mountain Museum, make Bolzano a global hub for mountaineering history and culture. Bolzano offers excellent amenities, convenient transportation, and plenty of Old World charm, along with beautiful surroundings waiting for you to explore.
