Altomonte Italy

Its name says it all, Altomonte, this small Calabrian town is so magical that it has earned the nickname of the Wedding City. It is located in the province of Cosenza and offers idyllic corners at every step you take. Medieval buildings and historic churches seem to emerge from its slopes, not to mention its winding and cobbled alleys, perfect for getting lost and wandering aimlessly. While walking without feeling that time passes, you will be able to observe the galleries that expose works of sacred art, imposing towers and very well preserved facades. Some of the most unique points are the Church of Santa María del Consuelo, a majestic 14th century church in the Gothic style, which houses an impressive collection of art that you cannot miss, and therefore it is also recommended to visit the Museum of Santa María of Consuelo. Another highly recommended museum is the Franco Azzinari Museum, near the Palotta tower, this was a defensive tower from the nomadic era; it currently houses a wide collection of works by regional artists. On the outskirts of Altomonte you will continue to come across real architectural landmarks, such as the Altomonte castle, the Dominican monastery, the Civic Museum or the church of San Francisco de Paula. You cannot miss its views dotted with vineyards, olive groves and citrus orchards, and try the fresh products of the area, including local wines.
